What Is The Dosage Of Mifepristone And Misoprostol?
Question: Hi i had taken midepristone and has been 16 hours yet not started bleeding may I know when to take now misoprostol??

THis is important for a lot of reasons.
Firstly , pregnancy has to be confirmed and dated by a doctor, apart from the urine pregnancy test at home, because the pills work only within a narrow time frame.
secondly, ectopic pregnancy ( pregnancy outside the uterus ) has to be ruled out, because that can be potentially dangerous and life threatening.
Also, there is always a risk of severe bleeding, infection , adhesions etc, and hence a doctor's guidance is essential.
There is a 4 % risk of failure of pills, in which case you might need medical attention and surgical abortion.
Now I will tell you how to take the pills.
1 tablet of Mifepristone is taken, and then after 48 hours, 2 tablets of Misoprostol are taken.
Generally bleeding starts within 6 - 8 hours of taking Misoprostol, but it may start sometimes after taking only Mifepristone tablet also.
Irrespective of bleeding, you have to take 2 more tablets ( total 4 ) of misoprostol 24 hours later.
So 1st tab. mifepristone.
After 48 hours - 2 tab Misoprostol
After another 24 hours - 2 more tab Misoprostol.
Bleeding will be heavy with cramps for a few days, and might last upto 15 days.
You should look out for expulsion of a greyish fleshy mass /lump of tissue.
ALso, you should have a follow up visit after 15 days to see if the abortion is complete and the ultrasound scan will show if the uterine cavity is empty.
So to answer your question, please take 2 pills of misoprostol 48 hours after 1st tablet of Mifepristone has been taken.

Thanks i had visited doctor she guided me to take mifepristone in afternoon n next morning misoprostol but i am worried this is not appropriate time frame, yet i had take mifepristone before 16hrs now what to do ? Pls help
