Question: Hi
What is the suitable dosage frequency for a 3.5 month old infant, 5.7 kgs, vomiting after every feed every 3 hours. Tried infant formula for first time today at 1:30 pm and she hasnt taken to it. Took breastmilk at 430 pm then vomited within 20 mins. Then vomited again at 7 pm. Had more breastmilk at 8 pm and vomitted. Gave first dose of ondem drops (0.5 ml) at 9:30 pm and feed at 1015, baby vomited at 12 am.
Brief Answer:
Dose can be repeated after 8 hours.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The dosage of Ondem drops can be repeated every 8 hourly. If the symptoms are not relieved , medical treatment is needed after proper examination.
If the child is irritable, not eating anything, has altered sensorium, has signs of dehydration, has been vomiting longer than 8 hours or is vomiting with great force, has blood in his stools or vomit or has not urinated in last 8 hours then you need to rush her to ER.
If taking Ondem is not helping her it means she needs other medicines like antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, etc after proper examination from her physician.
Do not self- medicate her as it can be dangerous.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
