Question: I have asthma and have just finished 10 days of 1000 mg. ceftin. I am on dulera, singulaire once daily,
flonase 2 puffs daily. I went back to my pulmonologist who gave me a 126 mg. shot of prednisone
and a 15 day prednisone regimen of 40 mg. 5 days, 20 mg. 5 days and 10 mg. 5 days. She also gave me a nebulizer to use every 6 hours. She said my chest still sounded congested and I had some wheezing. I am 68 yearsold and weigh 129 pounds. I am a nonsmoker, but had second hand smoke as a child. I eat pretty healthilymostly of some meat, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. My recent tests have shown only a slightly high cholesterol. I do have osteoperosis of -2.9 in the left hip and exercise and take calcium, Vit. D., etc. This episode of asthma may have been brought on by my packing to move from a house I've lived in for 41 years, mostly basement packing.
This prednisone is making it hard to sleep, and I am a little achy. I am also concerned for my bone density. My question is: IS THIS TOO MUCH PREDNISONE TO FLOOD MY BODY WITH AT MY AGE AND SIZE. I NEED A SECOND OPINION.
