Question: Dear Doctor
My Father is suffering from Prostate Metastasis Cancer. The cancer was detected in the year 2013 (March), that time it was diagnosed in prostate and around pelvis bone .

Recently he was facing some pain in waist one and therefore undergone through pet scan. How would be his quality of life with current mode of treatment. Is there any alteration in line of treatment advisable. Some doctors were suggesting chemotherapy. But our consultant doctor (Oncologist) suggested for hormonal therapy with palliative radiation. How much of his life expectancy is. would it be painful life for him.

Brief Answer:
Chemotherapy with zoledronic acid continuation

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Since the prostate cancer has spread to his bones it will be very painful for him.

Quality of life will be very poor with current mode of treatment and the disease may progress further within 3 months

I would advise you to start chemotherapy along with continuation of the zoledronic acid injection every monthly.

Average survival time is around 2 years

DR DE
