For a painless intercourse it is better to use a lubricating gel like KY jelly rather than lignocaine gel. Better lubrication will help in painless intercourse.
Using lignocaine gel can delay ejaculation and orgasm and can cause a more aggressive sex session. If you still want to use it, you can apply a pea size amount of gel inside the vagina with a finger just before starting the foreplay.
