Question : What is the process of someone becomming an egomaniac? Is it the thinking or the doing that builds the ego further? I went through schizophrenia and the treatment process that literally caused the total and permanent loss of ego. I felt empty, weak, incompetent, effortless, directionless, underdeveloped and immature for so long that now I want a strong, powerful ego that will pave my way into hard work. I mean, the ego forces the self into effort does it not? I read "lavinger's theory of ego development" multiple times and is inspired to upgrade the ego system. How can I build a strong ego back again? Is this a bad idea? Some say the ego is what stops us from living a good life.
Brief Answer:
Recovery from schizophrenia is the key

I mean to say that theories of ego development does not help when regaining confidence, self esteem after losing it due to any reason including schizophrenia.
The only way is to get treated from schizophrenia which is often long lasting process and may require
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to revert back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

So if ego doesn't contribute to self-esteem, self-confidence and self-love, can you explain in detail how "self-image" contribute to self esteem, self confidence, and self-love?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.
I think your question is quite genuine but beyond the scope of this platform as the platform is intended for medical opinion, especially second opinion.
As I said earlier definition of ego is quite different for psychologist and lay person. I mean to say that the context you are referring is quite different and there is no proved mechanism for ego development.
I hope this helps you to understand.
Thanks again.
