What Is The Prognosis For Benign Cystic Mesothelioma?

Question: What can you tell me about benign cystic mesthlioma? My daughter is 28 and she is diagnosed with this? It is in her abdomen. They want to do surgery and sayshe could have another 5-10 years. We live in Cedar Rapids, Ia and this was fron doc at XXXX Hosp.

She sntrying to get aUthorized for second opnion to come to Mayo. The doc told her there are so few of these cases that not all docs known what it is.they dont call it cancer but did say that they will give it a dose of chemo before leaving the OR.

Is this considered cancer?

- It is a rare cystic mesothelial lesion, occurring in reproductive age group.
- Few cases are reported worldwide.
- Exploratory laparotomy and excision of the tumor is the only remedy for this
condition.
- There is a varying percentage of recurrence rate after complete resection.
- En Block removal is recommended to avoid recurrence to its best
