Question : A good friend's daughter gave birth at 6 and 1/2 months. The baby weighed 2 pounds, 2 ounces. Due to excellent care and diligent parenting with lots of contact and bonding, the baby is over 7 and 1/2 months and just weighed in at 4 pounds, 8 ounces. During a recent exam, the Mother was told that she had "tired placenta"? What is that?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Low lying placenta is called tired placenta and is a risk and needs vigilant care and mostly end up with premature births like in your case. Its good that babies are doing well with good care.

MS on the other hand can be bothersome in some pregnancies as most of the medications needs to be stopped and only IV corticosteroids and immunoglobulins are needed. In future pregnancies, she needs just to consult a neurologist if she plans to conceive and the neurologist will start her on pills that wont hurt baby and will decide the drug free time frame where one can not treat MS during pregnancy. with frequent monitoring and regular followups, odds of flaring MS will be reduced.
