What Is To Be Understood From The Result Of A Spot Urine Test?

Question: I am wondering if you can explain my urine test results. I got the tests because I had previously had a higher than normal creatinine level (1.11). However, that first creatinine test was done when I was very sick with a stomach flu or food poisoning type illness. So I was most likely dehydrated. I was not dehydrated when I took the urine test. I also had blood tests that day and I'm attaching the whole report for context, but I think I understand the blood tests...just not the urine tests. The potassium is slightly high (5.3) but the sample was likely slightly hemolyzed because I re-tested the next day and it came out at 3.6. Both tests were fasting, but I had been drinking water.

The tests I had were U Microalb (<6.0) U Creatinine (28) and U Micro/Creat (<214). My doctor said that they looked ok, which I believe, but I don't understand what they mean. The U Creatinine would have just been one test, not a 24 hour one. Is that even useful? If I did have a decline in kidney function would these tests look different?

Brief Answer:
Its a urine spot test and suggest microalbuminuria

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Its called as spot urine test where concentration of urinary albumin to creatinine is measured in a sample preferably early morning sample. Ratio of albumin to creatinine is indicative and nearly equivalent to 24 urinary albumin excretion.
Now, in your case, it's less than 214, but we don't know the exact excretion here. Less than 30 is normal. So if we assume it to be more than 30 then fall in microalbuminuria category. However, single test is not that reliable, you should get it repeated after a interval of few months. Should not exercise heavily prior to test. Reliable option is to get 24 urinary albumin excretion test done.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
