Brief Answer:
It can be an inguinal hernia

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, yes most probably based on the nature of swelling it seems to be a hernia rather than lymph node and that too being inguinal more probable than others. However careful surgeon review is needed for local examination as well as if needed to get an ultrasound scan of the swelling and any alterations with cough reflex and illumination tests etc.

The treatment would depend on the nature of swelling. If a hernia is ruled out biopsy of swelling may also be needed.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope this has answered your query.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Regards
