Question : I just saw my doctor and said he will no longer prescribe a medicine I take for chronic headaches. The med is: The generic for Asgic Plus. I take 6-325MG a day to control my headaches. The Dr. said that is too much. I've taken them since I was 19. I am now 76 and in pretty good health. He said he would probably lose his license if they? found out I take that muh???

Brief Answer:
Fiorinal is another alternative.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I don't think you taking too much of it since maximum dose is 6 tablets. I think the prolonged time you have been taking it extremely long a lifetime long. At this point I think is better to stop it gradually lowering the dose because butalbital is a habit forming drug and has withdrawal symptoms.

Fiorinal is another alternative drug that contains butalbital and caffeine and aspirin, approved by FDA.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
