Question : What medication should I take if I have a potential blood clot as I am traveling and I am not near a doctor?blood clot or thrombosis is a possibility
Brief Answer:
Aspirin plus clopidogrel.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If you are already on Aspirin you should just continue that. There is a medication called Clopidogrel which is also commonly recommended to prevent secondary clots. But I am not sure if it is available over the counter at the place where you stay. You can take that as well. There are newer generation clot preventers but that is far from our discussion today.
But believe me Aspirin is still the most effective medication and you can take up to 350mg per day unless you have gastric ulcers or allergic to aspirin.
