Question : Hello Doctor,

My husband has been suffering from sinus from a very young age. Each time the weather changes he has trouble with his sinus. Since past two days he has been having severe cough , dry nasal and throat passage. Stuffy nose.He is unable to sleep at night. Please suggest some medication.

Might be suffering from Allergy

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Looking at the information given by you, the patient is probably suffering from inflammation in the respiratory tract. Allergy might be a cause.

He may find relief by taking the following medications:

1) Decongestant nasal drops(Oxymetazoline ),3 drops 3 times a day for 7 days(Use this drops only if the patient is not suffering from Hypertension),

2) Anti-allergic medicine with oral Decongestant: Levocetirizine with Phenylephrine (this medicine only used if the patient is not suffering from Hypertension)

3) Mucolytic like Ambroxol,

4) Saline Nasal drops,3 drops 3 times a day.

Drink lots of warm fluids.
Avoid exposure to dust.
Avoid eating cold food.
Do steam inhalation.
