Question : I went for an endoscopy for constant heartburn. They found a non-bleeding erosion in the gastroesopageal LA-A and 1 salmon tongue mucosa which they said will mean COM1 BE if metaplasia is found. What part of my body is the LA-A? What level of Barret's esophagus is Com1 BE? I am on Prilosec. Is my condition reversible? Will it lead to cancer of esophagus? The Dr. said I had a 0.2% of cancer, but is that just for now?
Brief Answer:
It is a mild disease, not to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I understand your concern.
So you have reflux esophagitis and LA means it is of a mild type.
Com1 Barretts means a short segment of the esophagus is involved. These changes are reversible and the incidence of cancer is very very low.
Thanks and regards
