Question: Please tell me how neuron specific enolase and Parkinson's disease are related. I have elevated level to 40 with genetics results putting me at moderate risk for PD. is this related?

I have a tongue thrust, tremors and facial grimacing that others have made comment of. Who should I see as next course of action. Also, are there any additional brain scans to confirm this?

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Raised neuron specific enolase is non specific and can be raised in many neurological disorder both acute and chronic. Direct relationship of parkinson's prognosis is not linked.
What genetic testing you have undergone as genetic positivity is common in young onset parkinson.
You should visit and consult a neurologist to get your diagnosis of parkinson's confirmed
Newer brain imaging like functional MRI, Dopa PET scan can be used for parkinson's disease. But the diagnosis is clinical.
Other diseases can also produce parkinson's like symptoms and have to evaluated by the neurologist.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
