Question : I have been taking BP and anxiety medications, namely Etizola tablets 0.5 mg and Ozotel 40 mg over last one month. During this time I had slightly fluctuating BP (on the higher side) during this time with nervousness and vomiting sensations coming about 2-3 times a week. Whenever I leave these medications, my appetite is gone and I feel very anxious and pukish.

Since we were not very convinced with the diagnosis and medications, we got the full check-up done from Thyrocare about 3 days back. I am attaching the full report with this question. In this report, my platelet count and Basophils is slightly less, B12 is less, Vitamin D is slightly insufficient, Homocystine is on the higher side. However to my XXXXXXX the value of TSH came as 66 against the normal range (03-5.5) micro IU/ml. Values of T3 is 84 mg/dl and T4 is 3.9 microg/dl. Thus it makes my case as one of hypothyroidism. I have also given follow-up tests for FT3 and FT4 along with AMA, will attach that report tomorrow.
Kindly let me know how to proceed further.

Brief Answer:
Consider repeating thyroid function test with free T3 and free T4

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I assume you are not known to have hypothyroid state in the past.

At the outset, your symptoms and the reports do not correlate each other. The values you find including low Vit B12, low Vit D, hemoglobin and hemogram values are incidental and doesn't explain your symptoms of nervousness and anxiety or BP fluctuations. Hypothroid state can cause nausea / vomiting; but it presents more with dullness and lethargy. Nervousness and anxiety is seen in hyperthyroidism where TSH values are low (not high).

I thing it is appropriate to consult an endocrinologist along with Free T3/T4 results. If necessary TSH value may be repeated.

As far as other parameters are concerned, you will benefit by starting vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin D supplements. Your treating doctor will know about it.

Hope I have addressed your concerns. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
