What Should I Do When Lipoma Are Detected In A Breast Ultrasound And How Can Their Malignancy Be Determined?
Question: Question on breast ultrasound. Ultrasound report says there is a Lipoma, but does not offer details or any guidance about what to do, other than normal study. I would like feed back on whether the area looks like a lipoma and if there is any other concern for malignancy.
Brief Answer:
Needs follow up for confirmation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Lipomas are fat containing benign lesions. It will help to follow up with an ultrasound scan in 6 months time and then with advanced imaging like contrast MRI breast scan if needed.
If there is pain or increase in size of lesion before 6 months then please consult your doctors.
Thank you.
