What Should Be Done After Kids Swallow Coin?
Question: Hello sir,
My 8 years old son has swallowed two one rupee coins 4 day before, but not come out. It seen in x-ray at leaver portion.
Please advice me what should i do ?

Being a Parent myself I understand your concern and apprehension.
Let me assure you there is no cause for concern.
If the coin has passed beyond the stomach , it is very much sure that it will get expelled out. In majority of cases it gets passed in 2 to 3 days. But sometimes it may take 1 to 2 weeks for passing out.
I would suggest you to give him 2 bananas everyday as it will help in quicker expulsion.
I have encountered few cases which have taken even 2 to 3 weeks . Do not worry. Coin is inert and it's unlikely to damage the intestine. Also body has its defence mechanism, it coats any foreign body with undigested food particles and prevents direct contact.
