What Should Be Done For High Lead Levels In Child?
Take preventive measures to decrease the exposure,Can continue Vitamin syp
Detailed Answer:
Hello
The level of 5 microgram/dl or above in blood suggests a value higher than normal. At this level preventive measures should be taken to control further exposure to lead.Children from 1 to 5 years are more prone as they put contaminated hand/finger in their mouth.
The exposure is mainly from the paint of the wall in house(house made before 1978 in USA),water pumped through lead pipes, some clay pots and toys.
If you live in house made before 1978,there are few preventive measures as per Center for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) available on the net. These are
1)To prevent the assess of child to peeling paints
2)Regular washing of child’s hands and toys.
3)Regular wet-mopping of floors and wet-wipe window components.
4)Keeping the shoes outside/wiping of feet on mat to prevent the entry of lead contaminated soil
Don't worry. As level upto 45 mcg/dl does not need any treatment.
You can give the multivitamin syrup with iron as supplement.
Get a repeat lead level done after 6 months.
I would be glad to answer if you have any further query regards
