Question : I'm 48 (today) and I'm constantly feeling ill. I have issues with my stomach (had me gal bladder removed 3 years ago) and go through periods of diarrhoea and then constipation for seemingly no reason. I go through bouts of dizziness and increased heart rate.
I've been a type 1 diabetic for nearly 25 years. My bloods are pretty good. My last HBA1C reading was 6.7
I take blood pressure (ex forge) and cholesterol (Lipitor) medication as well as my insulin. I had an 'episode' a few months ago but, when checked by the local emergency centre was advised I had no heart issues. I was advised that I might be suffering from anxiety attacks and although my life has been incredibly stressful over the last few years I don't feel particularly anxious.
Im completely fed up and constantly down in the dumps. Can you help? some sound advise regarding lifestyle/medication would be gratefully received
thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Endocrine
Detailed Answer:
I am sorry to note your symptoms.
Do the following tests unless they have already been done:
1 CBC
2 TSH
3 Anti TPO and anti Thyroglobulin antibodies
4 Serum Cortisol at 8 am
5 Complete Metabolic Panel
6 Plasma Fractionated Metanephrines
7 IgA endomysial assay
8 Anti Tissue Transglutaminase
9 Anti Gliadin antibodies
These will give us an idea what is causing the symptoms.
Next time when you have such symptoms, please check your finger stick blood glucose with a monitor to ensure it is not a low glucose reaction

Thank you Dr. Topiwala
FYI...I had a full Endocrinologist work up in October 2013 and other than the Doctor changing my insulin (from Actrapid to Humalog) which, by the way had a negative effect on my blood glucose levels, (I went back to the Actrapid on my own after 1 week) I was advised that there were no underlying health issues.
