Brief Answer: blood tests to be done. take folic acid daily Detailed Answer: Dear XXXX Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. It is a good idea to do a preconception check up. That way you know your body is in right condition to have a baby. According to the history you have provided there is no problem for conceiving. If you are overweight it's a good idea to lose some weight.(only if you are overweight) Also please take tab folic acid 5 mg ever day till you conceive and continue later too. It decreases the chance of abortion or babies with problem like heart or brain and spine problems. Helps you to have healthy baby. You mentioned low hb and anemia. Pregnancy worsens anemia. So please do following tests. Hb% complete hemogram. Thyroid profiles HbA1c, Random sugar. If hemoglobin is low then iron supplements and multivitamin for 2-3 months will correct it. Please write back with reports. I will be able to help better. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree

Thanks Doc for quick response . I will do all the tests then get back to you with reports. Meanwhile also wanted to know if my husband has to do some tests too. His family has heart disease genetically in my father-in-law and his brothers, though my husband don't have such issue yet. his age is 33 and he is prone to dust/pollen and weather change allergy.

Brief Answer: blood tests and checkup by physician. Detailed Answer: Dear XXXX Thanks for writing back. The genetic composition of body remains the same but we can control any effects by modifying diet , exercise which we call lifestyle changes. So if your husband's familiy all men have heart issues it can also be due to diet and lifestyle as usually family members have similar diets. Though this may not effect his ability to have a baby it is a good opportunity one can use to do a general checkup. I recommend following but I would like you to understand that this is not related to your husband's ability to have a baby. Complete hemogram. Fasting lipid profile. Thyroid profile. Fasting blood sugar. A comprehensive physical examination preferably by a physician or internal medicine specialist for assessment of weight, blood pressure and evaluation of above reports. As your husband is young he has the advantage of making the right adjustment to lifestyle and decrease the effect of family genes. Write back with your reports. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree
