Question: I'm 91, have severe POCD, use oxygen today (setting on 4). Still can't seem to get enough air. What are other treatments (medicated inhalers, etc).

Brief Answer:
I think it is COPD, not POCD.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Sorry to say but there is no term like POCD in Pulmonology.
There is one gynecological term, PCOD (poly cystic ovary disease).
But it does not involve lungs or cause breathlessness.
I think you are talking about COPD which means Chronic obstructive Pulmonary disease.

It has various gradings like mild, moderate, severe and very severe.
And severe COPD patients need long term oxygen therapy (LTOT) along with other supportive treatment in the form of inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). If pulmonary hypertension is there then treatment of pulmonary hypertension and diuretics should be started.

So first let me know
1. Are you talking about COPD?
2. Are you taking any inhalers? If yes then which inhaler?

Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thank you.

Yes, I have COPD - Sorry about that.

In addition to being on Oxygen (setting 3) which I am on probably 90% of the day and use all night.

I use Anoro once per day.

I've also done some breathing therapy which has not done much help.

Trying to see what other potential treatments there are that could help me not be so out of breath.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Start inhaled bronchodilators.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Anoro is mostly having inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Best treatment of COPD is inhaled bronchodilator (formoterol or salmeterol and tiotropium).
This will definitely help you.
Please let me know
1. What was your last PFT report?
2. Do you smoke?
3. What does Anoro contain?

Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
