Brief Answer:
blood work is not indication of bone scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

bone scan take the images of the metabolic activity of the skeleton or bone.

There are different indications for the bone scan but no blood picture is indication of bone scan.

A common reason to order a bone scan is -- evaluation of pain (a bone scan can help the source of the pain -- bone problem or soft tissues problem). For example, a long-distance runner may have foot pain due to a fracture or a sprain. The bone scan can help determine if a bone injury or a tendon sprain is the cause of the pain.

Bone scans can also be helpful for the evaluation of disease like cancer or nonspecific widespread bone pain.

But if a person is having wide spread pain and blood picture is showing that it might be cancer -- clinician may think of bone scan .. but blood picture alone is not indication of bone scan.

hope this help...
