What Value Of Blood Glucose Level Would Indicate One To Be Diabetic When Diagnosed With Iron Deficiency?
Question: I recently got blood tests back that indicated iron deficiency anemia. I expected that. However, one value that shocked me was the glucose level (110). I've never had high blood sugar before save for once after I had been given a strong steroid, and I had symptoms then (namely, I was always thirsty, but I could never feel like my thirst was quenched. That went away after a few days). Otherwise, my values have always been very, very normal. I remember on the day of the test (it was a fasting test) that I'd only had a few sips of water before testing (so I was really thirsty), and I think the last thing that I'd had to eat before bed was some candy. I was also on my period, and I take the birth control patch. Is there any way that I don't actually have diabetes? Or does this confirm diabetes?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
To confirm the diagnosis of Diabetes there should be:
-2 values of fasting glucose over 125 mg/dl or 2 random values over 200 mg/dl.
You should not consume sugar at least 10 hours before checking fasting glucose.
Values: 105 mg/dl-125 mg/dl fasting or 140-200 mg/dl random values suggest for Prediabetes or impaired fasting/postprandial glucose.
There should be at least 2 values to confirm the diagnosis.
So there is no need to get worried. Check it twice and let me know.
Best wishes,
