Yes there can be definite relation between sinus infection &tooth infection (in case the tooth involved is upper premolar/molar tooth, on the same side of sinus infection.The tooth infection itself can cause recurrent sinus infection .
Sinuses are air filled spaces in face.CT scan in sinus helps in detecting-
-Fluid built , inflammation or thickened mucus membranes in sinuses..thus confirming sinusitis
-It can confirm cause of sinusitis in form of nasal tumor or sinus tumors.
-It can define grade of tooth root infection & judge possibility of sinus rupture while tooth extraction .
-Thus CT scan helps in planning surgery for chronic sinusitis.& finding exact cause of the problem.
