Question : I went to urgent care for a bleeding lump on my toe. I was put on a 7 day clindimycin prescription. I did a follow up 4 days later with little improvement. Lump is tender to the truck. Second doctor did an X-ray because this did show up after my dog landed on my foot. He’s a 90lb black lab. Nothing was broken. He said to get scheduled with my primary and that a podiatry referral would probably be in order. I am waiting to get in with my Dr, but curious on what this might be. I feel like I’m wasting time. Losing work etc. would like to get this fixed and move on with my life.

Brief Answer:
Foot complicated wart suspected.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I saw the photo and I think it is a wart.
The virus that causes warts, the human papillomavirus, infects only the superficial layer of skin, producing a thickened callus-like growth that, if located in an areas subjected to pressure, can become quite tender.
It is a complicated wart with infection and bleeding and I think visiting a podiatrist is necessary because I find your foot even in not good vascular condition except wart.

I think the right way to treat it is curettage and desicatio done with local anesthetic, the physician uses an electrical or ultrasonic device to destroy the wart, the remainder of which is removed with a curette.
Or freezing warts with liquid nitrogen is frequently successful. This causes the wart to turn black and eventually fall off within a few days.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
