Question: Having abdominal pain and bloating off and on for about a month. Same sort of pain I used to get before having gallbladder removed 10 years ago. Can you still get gallstones long after surgery?

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history well about the present and past complaints, medications, surgeries and understood the concerns.
If the gall bladder is fully removed the chances of gallstones being formed are into the bile ducts but then the symptoms will be related to obstructive jaundice.
Watch out for the medications as some of the supplements can cause bloating and pain and if yes stop one by one to see whether they are the cause. You can not stop or hold or change essential medications without the consent of your Doctors; I have advised only for the supplements.
Then an upper GI Endoscopy, X-ray of abdomen, ultrasonography and tests of stool, blood and urine can help to get the exact cause after careful clinical evaluation and examination.

I hope this answers your query.
