Brief Answer:
Possible diagnosis: Peripheral neuropathy

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Sharp burning pain on the inside of upper thigh is likely neuropathic pain affecting the femoral nerve. There can be several causes like diabetes, hypothyroidism, vitamin B12 deficiency, nerve entrapment, underlying hematoma(especially if you are on anticoagulants/antiplatelets) etc.

A detailed physical examination, nerve conduction study, and ultrasound of the upper thigh (if needed), blood sugar and vitamin B12 levels, thyroid function test are recommended at this point. So, please be advised to follow up with your primary provider.

Meanwhile, you can take Tylenol for pain. You can also apply capsaicin cream on the affected area for pain relief.

Hope this answers your question

I recently had an abdominal aneurysm repaired by placement of s stent. The surgeon inserted the stent thru incisions in the Groin area. Is it possible I have leakage occuring causing the burning pain that occurs. The pain is not constant. It has occurred several times now and diminishes and goes away in a minute or two. Do you suggest I go back to the thoracic surgeon I used for him to check it out.

Brief Answer:
Please follow up with your thoracic surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Given tumour history of femoral artery access, hematoma formation is a definite consideration.
You need to undergo evaluation by thoracic surgeon/primary provider at the earliest.
