What Would Cause Pigmentation In His Legs And Feet Below The Knee After Developing Cellulitis 2 Years Ago?

Question: XXXXXXX who is 61 yrs old developed cellulitis 2 years ago and his feet and lower legs are a dark color, almost a pigmentation problem since the cellulitis. We were worried about a possible circulatory problem or perhaps lupus. After looking at his legs again I really think it is pigmentation. Can you think of any cause that would change his pigmentation in his legs and feet below the knee? His veins, like spider veins are apparent on both feet and his larger veins look like varicose veins. Also he has a fungal infection on both big toes. This has been maybe a year or 2 duration He has muscle cramps and has lost a lot of weight. sometimes swelling of both legs periodically.

Brief Answer:
Can be a pigmentation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The change in color of the legs after an extensive infection can be due to a pigmentation and scarring under the skin due to healing infection. The prominent veins need an examination to confirm the varicose veins. The muscle cramps can be related to muscle weakness, electrolyte imbalance, decreased fluid intake, etc. This can be ruled out after a few blood tests. The swelling of the legs needs proper investigations to find the cause. Till then it is better to keep the legs elevated while resting and reduce the salt intake.
I hope this answers your query.
