Brief Answer:
symptoms can be due to acute injury or gout

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The exact time of the injury is not stated but in general signs and symptoms can worsen by day 2 to 4 after an injury.

Though gout more commonly occurs in the great toe, it can also occur in the instep as well.

Severe pain from an injury or gout can prevent or affect standing or ambulation.

Both are treated with rest and the use of anti inflammatory medications but with gout , medications to lower uric acid levels are also needed.

Anti inflammatory meds include- naproxen, indomethacin, ibuprofen

To determine if it is an acute attack of gout, uric acid levels would be needed You would need to be assessed by your doctor.

Imaging may be needed if the doctor, based on examination findings, believes that your symptoms are due to acute injury not gout. Imaging would be required to determine the severity of the injury

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
