Question: I ate chicken tender with macaroni & Cheese drinking Gatorade. Went to bed later to watch tv. I woke up feeling sick and used toilet then I got sick and threw up liquids that tasted lightly of chicken. I felt great hurting pain in my chest before and after this incident. I went back to bed drinking Pepto-Bismol. Later I ate a few saltine crackers with water. I still had chest pain. Woke up with soreness inside my chest and I can drink water. I stayed awake a long time after I got sick. This morning when I drink water it feels like indigestion that is coming up into my throat and stomach seems to feel sickly.

Brief Answer:
food poisoning or gastroenteritis bacterial or protozoal in your case.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Thanks choosing us for your query.
I've gone through your details and I appreciate your concerns.

Most likely you are suffering from Gastroenteritis or acute food poisoning. It is an intestinal infection marked by diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever. However, it's not necessary that all symptoms are there in a single patient. History of eating chicken is suggestive of possible bacterial or protozoal contamination. Clostridium species of bacteria are usually very toxic and are associated with food poisoning after eating nonvegetarian food.

Treatment-

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration– You need to drink more than usual to replace the fluids lost from vomiting or diarrhea (in case it starts). Water is best, but you could also try fruit juice and soup.

Take Acetaminophen(eg. Tylenol) for any fever or aches and pains.
Get plenty of rest.
If you feel like eating, try small amounts of plain foods, such as soup, rice, pasta, and bread.
Use special rehydration drinks made from sachets electoral solution to maintain depleted electrolyte levels in serum.

Take anti-vomiting medication (such as Zofran 4 mg twice) and antidiarrhoeal medication in case it starts (such as loperamide up to 16 mg a day). Both are over the counter.
An antacid like Omeprazole should also be taken to prevent acid reflux.
Take 5 days antibiotic and antiprotozoal course to kill the bacteria and protozoans.
I'd suggest Tab Ofloxacin 200 mg twice a day(9a.m-9 p.m)
Tab Metronidazole 400 mg twice daily(9a.m-9p.m) You would need a prescription for these.

If your upper blood pressure is less then 90 mm at any time or pulse is more then 110/min contact the nearest emergency room for intravenous therapy.

Thanks!
