Question : Hello. What would you advise to a single dad who has a young daughter maybe about to go through period. Could you provide information. 1. how many days is it normally? how long does it last? 2. and how often should she have to change pads/tampons? 3. are periods something that girls and women keep track of, so like if it's early or late, they will keep track?

Brief Answer:
menstrual queries.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
During the initial phase as the hormones are not mature, the menses can be sometimes heavy and can last even 7-10 days with initial heavy and then spotting with darkish brown colour and can be painful as well, changing 3-4 pads even daily initially.
This can be controlled with antifibrinolytics and also nsaids with advise of doctor if she gets puberty menorrhagia.
2. pads should be changed at XXXXXXX every 6hrly to avoid infection.
3- ideally every woman is expected to keep a track of her periods and this exercise should be followed religiously by them
Regards
