Question : Hi,
After how much duration is it advisable to try for conception post rubella vaccine. I have read in ACIP guidelines that the duration is shortened to 28 days, however my gynec suggests waiting period of 3 months. In XXXXXXX scenario what is more advisable. The data I have researched so far is indicative to US scenario.
Also what are the practical risks of accidentally falling months in second cycle after rubella vaccination. The data I have researched so far speaks only about theoretical risks.

Hi,

Let me tell you that for immunity to develop it needs 3 weeks or more. So, waiting a month after the vaccination should suffice. I do not suppose that you need to wait for 3 months irrespective of your country of residence. The main logic is not to become pregnant in the cycle in which the immunization has been done. So, accidentally becoming pregnant in the subsequent cycle should be safe.
