Is it common practice to give Celestone Soluspan if the baby is most probably going to be full term and how long before the full term date should it be given?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
This preparation is given when there is a risk of preterm labour.
Preterm babies are born with immature lungs, and this preparation is supposed to enhance lung maturity of the premature baby.
It is of no use when the baby is going to be born full term.
It is generally given when delivery is expected to occur before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy.
