Question: What is the use of Etosys 500mg tab twice a daily for 5 days during pregnancy ? i have a small retroplacental clot measuring 15 x 5mm at 11 weeks because i had a light brown discharge so went for u/s . my doc prescribed etosys 500mg twice a daily and complete bed rest. but after 7 days i again have watery light brown discharge. so now i become very worried why this is happening after taking etosys also? is etosys not helping at all or my clot has increased ? i am doing small walks and small works but most of time i am taking bed rest. then why again has watery brown discharge? or has it expelled that clot or what ?

Brief Answer:
Etosys can be given during pregnancy to decrease active bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Etosys is given to decrease the active bleeding and can be given during pregnancy also. I have seen the attached reports. You have a retroplacental clot that is causing the brownish discharge. A brownish discharge is suggestive of an old blood. A fresh bleeding is bright red in color. In case there would have been any active bleeding now then the clot size would have increased and there would have been a bright red bleeding from vagina.
The brownish discharge will gradually decrease on its own and is not worrisome. It does not indicate any threat to the ongoing pregnancy. It is best to get a repeat scan done after 2 weeks to measure the size of retroplacental clot that will indicate about the bleeding. Take absolute bed rest till then as your doctor has advised. Small walk and works can disturb the pregnancy causing a miscarriage.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

till now I do not have any bright red bleeding. it was a watery light brown discharge. but small walks like going for toilet, opening the door, taking water and food that time I have to get up because nobody at home with me during day time. is that ok or I have to go on strict bed rest ? I have talked to my doctor also she told that I have expelled that blod clot . but I want to be sure in my case that do I have any risk in future ?

Brief Answer:
You can walk till the door.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The watery light brown discharge is alright. You can rise from bed for 3-5 minutes and slowly walk to the door.
If you have already expelled the clot then there is no need to worry. A repeat ultrasound scan can only assure that your baby is alright now and there is no future risk involved.
Hope my answer is helpful.
