When Is Intercourse Advisable For A Patient After Treating Genital Warts?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: Quick question Doc.

I just had two genital warts burned off with acid .
It formed a black scab , and now ( one week after ) that black scab is mostly gone
and you see a light pink wound that is healing . the wound is right above the penis shaft . That area is light pink and looks as if it was a bit moist.

My question is when is it safe to have sex with someone ( using a condom ) who lets say is HIV positive ( Female ) ? How long should I wait ?

Brief Answer:
It is always safe to have sex with condom.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your query and understand the concern you are worried about.

It is always safe to have sex using condom mostly when the partner is HIV positive so you can go for it any time. The precaution you have to take is just make sure it will remain intact through our the act.

Hope this info will help you. For any further query get back to me any time. Stay happy and healthy.

Thank You

I am not sure if you understood my question .

I understand the condom part , yes I always use a condom .
But my question is that I have a relatively fresh wound
which will get some vaginal fluid during sex.

Can you get hiv through a wound like the one I described ?

Brief Answer:
With healing wound it is not possible.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

If the wound is healing and closed then the risk of getting HIV is not there even if infected fluid comes in contact with. It is only possible when the wound is open or there is any other cut on penis.

You can take some precaution while removing the condom after having sex so that no infected fluid will come in contact with the wound or penis. For any further query you can get back to me again.

Thank You
