Question : Thanks for responding to my questions. But, I have noticed that my blood pressure is creeping up a little since being on the effexor. I think that's what's causing the rise all of a sudden. Last night I took my first dose of the medicine at 9:30pm . When should I take the next dose today? Should I take Alprazolam 0.25mg with these other medicines? Right now this is the way I take my medicine. In the morning, I take Losartan HCTZ 50/12.5mg, Bystolic 5mg, Synthyroid 88mcg these are the ones I take in the morning. At night I take Norvasc 5mg. Sometimes, I take prilosec 20mg for GERD. I keep feeling a little jumpy, like electric shock in my chest area. Menopause is causing me all of this discomfort I feel. Maybe I need something natural to help me. I don't know but I'm definitely not feeling myself.

Brief Answer:
Start with Alprax also at bedtime.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.

The rise in blood pressure and the jumpy feeling in the chest seems to be anxiety-related. Taking Alprax at bedtime will help in decreasing this feeling.

You can take venlafaxine daily at 9:30. It will start showing the effect in a few days. Melatonin supplements will also help in decreasing anxiety.

Hope my answer is helpful.
Any further queries are welcome.
Regards.

I have melatonin 5mg here. Do I take that along with the alprazolam or take one or the other? This anxiety is truly messing me up. These heart surges feeling like electrical shock going through my chest is really bad. I'm steady swearing like crazy and I'm so scared that the venlafaxine is what raised my blood pressure. Could I be wrong about that? Even with me taking losartan hctz, bystolic and norvasc at night my blood pressure has been like 145/97 and that's just too high. I don't know what else to do. I was told to take 10mg instead of 5mg now of the amiodopine (Norvasc) at night.... I'm so sick of all this medicine....I just don't know what else to do.. thanks

Brief Answer:
You can take Melatonin with Alprax.

Detailed Answer:
You can take melatonin along with Alprax at bedtime.
The high blood pressure is not likely to be related to Venlafaxine. Since your blood pressure is too high it is best that you consult your physician and increase the dose of Norvasc at night as suggested.
Do attend an ER in case the blood pressure levels remain high even after taking Alprax and increased dose of Norvasc.
Regards.
