Question : When to check for pregnancy test for best results.today i had unprotected sex with my gf and her last period was on 22 may15

There are basically two tests to detect pregnancy.

1. Urine test.
2. Blood test.

Among this urine test is convenient and can be done by your girl friend herself.The test can be done as early as 1 week after the unprotected sex but if its negative it has to be repeated after 1 week again.

If you are going for blood test one time test after 7 days is sufficient. In that case you need to get Serum Beta Hcg test.
