Question : Which EYE surgery is good? PRK or LASIK
Brief Answer:
Both give equal outcomes
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Whether PRK or LASIK that you choose the results of visual outcome would be the same. However LASIK is more advanced than traditional PRK which is done by less equipped centres. LASIK the recovery is faster becasue the surgeon scraps deeper layers of cornea and smoothen the irregular cornea after creating a flap. Whereas the PRK the epithelium (outer layer) is rounded so the healing is slower as the cornea does not have blood supply to heal the outer layer.
The amount of irritation burning and dryness is more in PRK and hence need to use artificial drops for longer duration up to 3 months.
Hope this helps to decide.
