Question: Hi I am just getting over a bad cold and am experiencing a strange clogged feeling i my left ear. Also am experiencing a ringing sound. How can I clear ear.

i am 47 year old female. have had problem for about five days. started at the end of a bad cold, no fever or pain just clogged up feeling.

I suggest you to use Xylometazoline 0.05% nasal spray thrice daily for 2 days. This will reduce the congestion in the nose and sinuses and gives you relief from the clogged ear sensation.

Thanks I do not have any sinnus pressure or headache. The cold has cleared but clogged feeling and ringing remain could the respiratory infection caused some sort of inner ear problem? How long can ears remain clogged after a cold?

Hi,

Yes, the ringing sensation can be due to inner ear problems. This can only be ascertained by a Audiometry and a CT scan. The ear clogging can persist for as long as few weeks.
