Question: Hi Doctor I have been experiencing pain in my left leg around knee area for over two weeks now. It began after I started running couple of months ago. Now whenever I sit for some period like lunch/dinner and get up I experience pain near my knee area which slowly becomes fine once I start walking for some time (2-3 mins). I can walk for long distances without any pain. Please advice. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Possibly due to runners knee

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Its possibly due to running causing a condition called runner's knee.
Or it could be muscle strain. There also seem to be some stiffness of muscles.

I will suggest that you Currently you should avoid running until this pain is better. Slowly increase the distance of running when you are fine.

If it does not get better by giving rest, please see an orthopedic surgeon. He will be able to physical examine the joint and may also run some tests including X ray of knee, blood calcium and vitamin D levels and any other if needed.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
