Question: Last Friday I fell flat on my nose and hit my head. I have the expected swollen nose and black eyes. Experience headaches and fatigue all week and today I fainted. Apart from faded bruising I see nothing to indicate any problems. I did go to my optermolgist and my left is enlarged slightly. Should I wait and see a doctor if this continues or ?

Brief Answer:
Advice to follow up with primary provider or urgent care

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The bruising and mild swelling is not very concerning. However, the headache and fainting episode following the fall needs to be looked into. In people above 60 years, especially if taking aspirin or warfarin, there is an increased risk for Subdural hematoma (which is blood collection in dural space covering the brain. Such blood collection can cause symptoms like headache, fainting, vision changes etc.

CT scan of the brain can confirm/rule out the diagnosis. So please be advised to follow up with your primary provider or urgent care as soon as possible.

Hope this answers your question.
