Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Cramping/intermittent abdominal pain below or in the area of the umbilicus can be due to different possible causes.

Some of the more common causes include- (1)related to the bowel, bowel related issues such as constipation or diarrhea tend to cause cramping around the umbilicus.
Both of these cause cramping/intermittent pain

(2)one of the other structures in the area would be the bladder. Infections of the bladder can cause pain but this is also usually associated with other symptoms such as passing urine frequently or discomfort on urination

(3)uterus- menstrual pain or pain related to disorders or conditions affecting the uterus eg endometriosis or fibroids, can also cause pain below the umbilicus

If the pain is severe then it would be best to be seen by your doctor for examination.
In addition to physical examination of the abdomen, imaging such as ultrasound, may be needed, depending on the severity of the pain.

Exact treatment would depend on the cause of the pain but you can try general pain medication such as tylenol or naproxen or ibuprofen

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
