Needs clinical evaluation and investigations to get the root cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Noted the history, seen the photograph and understood the concerns.
Redness and sensitivity to touch from ankles to about 6 inches above for two months along with the changes in the local skin is a matter of concerns.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Venous Color doppler of both the limbs.
Tests of blood: particularly for kidney and thyroid functions, liver functions along with serum proteins.
Any other tests after clinical examination and reports of investigations.
All these things to get a probable cause such as varicose veins or so.
A proper diagnosis will help to get appropriate management.
Till then keep the lower limbs elevated when in laying down position.
Low salt diet.
Do not apply anything locally as the skin in such a condition can react.
I hope this answer helps you.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
