Why Am I Unable To Pass Urine While Taking Percocet For Viral Meningitis?

Question: 28 year old son has viral meningitis - diagnosed Thursday afternoon. Currently on Percocet 10mg/325mg-1 every 6 hours, plus promethazine 25mg. Also 2 advil between the six hours dosage. Headaches are at 5 to 6 on scale of 10. Issue is he is having a hard time urinating - has the sensation, but may or may not urinate and if so, not much. We've been keeping him hydrated with gatorade and water.

In my opinion, you must talk to his Doctor. your doctor should be able to reduce the dosage of Percocet, or increase the dose of Brufen. Besides these, there are lot of alternative choices for his headache. If it is not possible to alter the dosage and chamge the combination of medicine, then your son should be catheterize. It is important that he keeps his bladder empty, for his comfort and more important to avoid the chances of urinary infection, bladder infection due to retained urine. Hope you got your answer.
