Why Are Risperdal Tablets Prescribed?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
Question: I now take Risperdol, what sympton's are being cured? I was in an accident and hurt my brain. I take Lamitol to keep seizures away. I haven't had one for 7 years. I got seizures after I had a bad job where a nerve was hurt while putting a rib in my head. I now have OCB, and I see a cognitive therapist-psychologist, but I would also like to know why else I take Risperdol. I'm dissatified that I have 2 guardins, and a case manager to tell me what to do. This was said by a judge, and can't be redone, I was hurt really bad, but I've regained alot of my abilities. I'm happy that my top guardian has been very helpful, knowing about my situation. What else, may be possibly wrong with me? Is it just depression, I know it's mood stability-which I thing it should and hopefully being treated, whatever that means that I can correct on my own without this pill called Risperdal, I never want to have a seizure again-is that why, or is there something else that's being cured to find

Brief Answer:
resperidal for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Resperidal is an antipsychotic drug used in schizophrenia or bipolar manic depressive disorder. The drug for seizure you mentioned is lamictal or lamitol. Is it contains lamotrigine. If yes it's been given for seizure. Both drugs have interaction and levels of resperidal increases with lamictal.
Since you have not got seizures for last 7 years, the antiepileptics may be tried to gradually tapered and stopped. It may be required for long periods if you have a syndromic diagnosis for epilepsy.
For obsessive compulsive disorder, counselling is important.
Hope you recover early. Wishing you good health.
God bless you.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
