Brief Answer:
work differently

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

These medications work in different ways.

Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in a part of the bladder and also in the prostate. By causing these muscles to relax and therefore dilate/widen, this helps urine to pass through easier.
Results occur quickly in most persons

Finasteride works differently. It blocks the production of the hormone mainly responsible for growing the prostate. By doing this, it may slow down and possibly reverse prostate growth. This is a slow process and does not produce immediate results unfortunately.

This means that the tamsulosin does not look at the cause of the BPH but treats the symptoms by relaxing the path where the urine passes, finasteride works behind the scenes to try to slow down or reverse prostate size

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
