Brief Answer:
Reactive hypoglycemia

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

The symptoms you are experiencing is likely to be reactive hypoglycemia, which is transient episodes of decreased blood sugar after consumption of food. This is because of the insulin surge followwing food intake resulting in hypoglycemia, which is commonly triggered by food high in sugar .
Here are few things to try to manage the condition
- Eat small frequent meals
- Include high fiber foods like green vegetables, bran, oat etc
- Include diet rich in protein like chicken breast
- Avoid simple carbohydrates like sugar, honey, milk etc
- You can include complex carbohydrates in your diet like potato, whole wheat, brown rice.

Also, get blood sugar and HbA1c tested to rule out diabetes.

Hope this answers your question

Brief Answer:
Rule out peripheral neuropathy

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Continue limiting sugary processed food and include a high protein diet. Make sure to eat in small quantities spaced frequently. Do not consume large portion of food at a time.
Make sure that you are also consuming adequate fiber in form of vegetables, rice, XXXXXXX oat etc.

Regarding the pain in your calves, the likely concern is for peripheral neuropathy.
Clinical examination and nerve conduction studies are required to confirm. Given your episodes of reactive hypoglycemia and the possibility of peripheral neuropathy, it is very important to rule out diabetes with blood sugar and HbA1c analysis.
Your physician can also assess the blood flow to legs clinically. Decreased blood flow associated with atherosclerosis can result in recurrent episodes of leg pain.

Dr. Lekshmi
