Question: Hello,

I have dryness, scaley sores just above and below the eyelids. They are dry, red, swollen and itchy. I have taken 1/2 of a benedryl but they do interfere w my sleep.
In my area, we have had a lot of smoke in the air due to forest fires and I suspected the smoke might be the cause? Your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Dermatitis, cortisone cream, antihistaminic and moisturizing cream

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It seems to be dermatitis which is an allergic reaction.

It could be because of dust, any product applied on the face or could be seasonal in nature.

I would recommend you to apply Cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily along with an application of a moisturizing cream on the entire face 2-3 times in a day.

For itching take antihistaminic like tablet Cetirizine 10 mg once daily for few days.
This should resolve this reaction.

I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further queries.

Dr. Asmeet
