Pain is in my left leg and it hurts when I stand or walk. At rest there is no pain. I suffer from no diseases(Enlarged prostate) is a condition that I take medication for. I am physically active as I do gardening and fish for recreation.I went to my regular Md recently and he thought I had a problem with my sciatic nerve and should seek physical thereapy or help from a family member with excersizes. So where am I at right now
Brief Answer:
Narrowed spinal canal
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In my opinion, the cause for the leg pain is narrowed spinal canal, which causes a nerve impingement at the place where the nerve exits the spine. Your regular MD was right in suspecting sciatica, which also involves impingement of the sciatic nerve, running down the back of your leg. This condition may be due to a slipped disc or arthritis of the spine, however, an MRI of the spine and a subsequent visit with a neurologist will help rule in or out this major cause as a first step towards determining a diagnosis.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
